Project Description
The construction of a steel framed extension, within the existing factory building to provide modern office accommodation.
The project incorporated a mezzanine floor for future expansion.
The offices were air-conditioned throughout and extensive computer wiring was installed.
New window openings were cut into the existing factory walls.
Challenges
Promat UK Ltd is a manufacturer of fire proof panels.
The factory was in full production 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the contact period and it was essential that building activities did not conflict with the manufacturing process.
The site therefore had to be carefully planned and segregated from the factory and deliveries were co-ordinated to avoid client's busy times. Service connections were programmed well in advance to ensure any shutdowns did not stop manufacture.
The above measures ensured there was no reduction in the clients production whilst the building works were carried out.
