Project Description
Internal alteration and refurbishment to the Patient and Medical libraries, including conversion of garage into workroom area.
Challenges
One of many challenges with this project was maintaining access to medical journals and information for use by the doctors. Working closely with the Librarians and Hospitals Estate Department, a plan was generated to create phased work to enable access to key information for hospital staff.
From a site survey carried out on the building it was revealed that parts of the project contained asbestos and had to be removed during the contract period. This was successfully removed and works rapidly advanced to ensure works where complete on time with minimal disruption to hospital routine.
