Project Description

Construction of four new dwellings on three very tight sites to level 4 of the code for sustainability. In order to achieve this, photovoltaic panels and water harvesting systems were installed along with 150mm wide wall cavities and concrete beam and polystyrene block ground floor construction.

Challenges

The three plots of land all situated several miles apart, all requiring their own welfare facilities and storage were managed by a single site manager who in effect had to manage three individual sites at one time.

All sites where under the scrutiny of the Considerate Constructor Scheme requested by the client as part of the stride towards achieving level 4 code for sustainability. This was made difficult by the requirement mark of 32/40, making it compulsory that all sites exceeded expectation in an already difficult situation.

Throughout the winter months although facing extreme weather conditions such as 600mm of snow causing lost time, the handover was executed on time.
