Client: Consultant Architect: Completion Date: Value: | Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council Arcus Consulting LLP November 2010 £470,000 |
Project Description
This project involved staggering and overlapping of works in three different areas of the school. The transformation of area A involved the alteration of existing classrooms into a Staffroom area along with a Library and IT/Resource room; with a Meeting room, Seating area and One to One interview room.
Area B involved the task of changing the original Main Entrance of the school into three large open plan classrooms with toilet facilities.
Area C involved a total strip and full re-build with alteration of wall positions to toilet areas with installation of upto date services.
Challenges
The biggest challenge was the fact that a large proportion of the project had to be carried out during the six week summer holiday.
This necessitated very careful planning and ordering of materials and equipment combined with very close liaison with the Mechanical and Electrical subcontractors in order to achieve the handover date.
