This project consisted of the construction of eight one bedroom social housing flats in a two storey block and a staff accommodation in the central section of the buildings eaves; one of these flats had to be designed to provide access and amenities for a disabled person.
The building was of traditional construction with precast concrete stairs and floor. The contract also included the construction of a new car park and drainage attenuation system.
This project had many challenges this includes conforming to 18 planning conditions and complying with various regulatory bodies e.g. Safe by Design, Code for Sustainable Homes and NHBC. The site itself was small which meant storage of materials on site were limited, this was overcome with small and well organised deliveries to minimise the amount of materials on site at one time.
The site also sat alongside a conservation area which meant extra care was to be taken down the affected face of the building, alongside adhering to very specific specifications to ensure the building tied in with conservation requirements.
