SOCIAL HOUSING REFURBISHMENT – 501 TO 509 ON BARNSLEY ROAD

This Project consisted of a completely new roof covering along with the installation of external railings, fencings and ramps.
Whilst the internal work, consisted of the complete strip back to the brickwork to begin all the construction operations and processes to produce five modern affordable social housing dwellings.
The site was extremely small having the welfare cabins situated on the small rear gardens to the property’s meaning careful planning had to be put into place so that the correct amount of materials were on site as required to avoid any unnecessary risk to health and safety.
These buildings had been left in a derelict state for some time, with the worst of the damage been to the roof.
The roof structure was severely damaged to an extent that there were holes in the roof. This could have created problems for later trades but with the introduction of dehumidifiers, heat blowers and dry heat the buildings were dried in time for trades to work through.
A few other challenges were the redundant gas mains, a high security risk area all topped with the building having to comply with DDA which were overcome to produce five very desirable properties.
