Doncaster Royal Infirmary - Dementia WardConversion of offices into Dementia Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Completion Date:
Doncaster Royal Infirmary
Estates Department Doncaster Royal Infirmary
March 2014

Project Description

Complete refurbishment of the management offices to provide a dementia ward area including mechanical, electrical and specialist services

The ward consists of en-suite 2, 3 and single bedded bays some with automatic doors along with all support rooms and staff offices.

Due to the change of use for the area from offices to medical area the services infrastructures were not in place.

The works required a AHU to be installed in the internal courtyard on a concrete base to provide heating and ventilation to the ward.

A 40m concrete pump was used to pump the concrete over the roof and into the courtyard. The AHU was brought to site in small sections for onsite assembly.

Planning and co-ordination meetings were held on site regularly to carefully plan all service routes.

This ensured that the vast amount of services could be installed in a logical manner within the ceiling voids keeping the project on programme.
