Project Description

The enabling works comprised of alterations in and around the original corridor “race track” that circumnavigated the existing wards throughout the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  The whole idea was to revert back to the original escape routes, some of which had been blighted by previous refurbishment schemes.

The work included the demolition and construction of internal walls together with the introduction of new fire doors.  L1 fire alarms were provided throughout the block.

Challenges

All the works were carried out with the building fully occupied.
The main works were completed over 4 floors in two phases per floor to enable client’s critical activities to function.
Daily liaison was required between our site manager and ward managers to enable work to be carried out with minimum disruption.
