Conversion of Retail Unit to form
Croft Veterinary Practice at Bolsover

Conversion of new retail unit to form a new veterinary centre.  Works included the construction of steel mezzanine 2nd floor, new partitions, ceilings, mechanical and electrical works, sanitary ware, decoration, floor coverings and goods lift.

Challenges

The building was a vacant shell with no internal drainage linking to the external waste system. The unit had thick solid reinforced concrete floors which required channels breaking out and removing to install waste pipes below the ground level and connect to a shallow existing external drainage system, this required precision to ensure falls on the pipework were correct but also heavy machinery to break through the reinforced concrete, this was extremely loud work and with adjacent live retail units we had to ensure that we monitored and liaised closely with our neighbours to ensure minimal disruption.

The project was also met with a loose brief from the outset with the architect defecting from project in the very early stages. This meant that we had to liaise closely with the client, CA and building control to ensure that the client received the required finish product.
