Emergency Block Flow Works at Doncaster Royal Infirmary

The project involved the refurbishment of the A&E department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, including new ventilation, electrics, sanitary and finishes throughout. This work had to be carefully thought out and planned in phases so as not to disrupt the live departments activities. The project also included the construction of a canopy for the Ambulance Bay. (As shown in picture)

Challenges

For the duration of the works the Emergency Department was live and very congested during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. This meant that we had to pay the upmost attentiveness to programming, phasing and site boundaries/set-up. Regular checks from the Site Manager and Site Foreman were required as well as frequent visits from our Contracts and Health and Safety Manager. The canopy works had to be stringently thought through and discussed with the Client and Users to determine the best method and programme for the works.
