Refurbishment of Ward 4 at Weston Park Hospital, Sheffield

Complete refurbishment of Ward 4 to form Modern Outpatients Department and Offices.

Works included M&E Services and a high level of finish to provide a clinical environment.

Challenges

As part of the refurbishment works concrete dividing walls needed to be removed to suit the new layouts.

These walls were previously constructed from dense concrete due to provide radiation protection from the medical procedures.

In order to minimise noise and vibration a ‘concrete crunching’ robot was brought onto site to avoid the need for hydraulic breakers.

In order to connect all the foul drainage access was needed to the cancer treatment ward on level 3 below.
