The works had to be carried out without school activities being affected.

This created many difficulties which were overcome with very careful planning and close liaison with the School staff.  The school Easter holiday, half term holidays and summer holidays   and inset days were utilised to the full to minimise disruption to the school.  A small amount of “out of hours” work was carried out to minimise disruption.

The construction of the car park was delayed until the summer holidays and was completed in six weeks and was ready for use     along with the new Entrance Reception when the school staff and pupils returned after the school summer holidays.

Another issue was the surface water off the new car park.  The existing drains were already running to full capacity.  Therefore, to overcome this problem, permeable block paving manufactured by Hanson’s was installed.  This enabled the surface water to soak into the full area of the car park, thus overcoming the problem.
