Project Description

The construction of a large extension to the existing renal unit. The extension provides additional dialysis chair stations and clinical staff accommodation and offices.

The project also included a full refurbishment of the existing renal unit to provide seamless transition between new and old building which both provide clinical areas, and a plant room to accommodate new water treatment plant for dialysis operations.

Challenges

A critical part of the project was to maintain operation of the dialysis unit which provides vital dialysis for patients 6 days per week.

In order to achieve this, the project was phased, and careful liaison with the client/clinical team and the specialist water treatment contractor was undertaken to identify any problem areas/operations in the construction process. This ensured there was no disruption to client activities, and patient comfort was maintained. This planning and liaison was successful in ensuring Diaverum provided the highest standard of care to their patients throughout the construction period.

‘I would have no hesitation recommending O&P Construction Services for healthcare facility construction work.’
