Project Description

This project consisted of the refurbishment and extension of the existing SHU Nursery set in a conservation area; including replacement of all windows to planning and conservation officers’ approval.

The works included a new porch (Extension), mechanical and electrical replacement, the installation of a wheel chair friendly lift and amenities and internal remodelling.

The replacement windows were sourced to replicate the existing whist providing the thermal and draught proofing qualities of modern storm proof windows. This required several meetings with the conservation officer to agree detailing.

The new single storey extension was constructed from re-claimed stone carefully sourced to match the existing building whilst the flat roof was zinc covered in a traditional style. A new platform lift was installed in the centre of the existing building requiring careful planning to install the steelwork required to support the floors
